Sarah Walton signing up support

Bury College has pledged to support students and staff with their mental health and wellbeing.

The College is proud to have reaffirmed its commitment to staff and students by signing up to a brand new national mental health and wellbeing charter which has been created by the Association of Colleges in conjunction with mental health experts.

Bury College has recently signed the 11-point document which commits to:

  • Promoting equality of opportunity and challenging mental health stigma
  • Providing appropriate mental health training for staff
  • Providing targeted individual mental health support where appropriate

Sarah Walton, Bury College Director of Personal Development, said, “Colleagues from across the Bury College community provide exceptional support to both staff and students to ensure the mental health and wellbeing of individuals is taken well care of. This is why we have signed up to the Association of Colleges’ Mental Health and Wellbeing charter and we will continue to stay committed to every students and staff member’s mental health and wellbeing.”

Richard Caulfield, Mental Health lead at the Association of Colleges, said, “Every single day colleges like Bury College provide a world class education and transform the lives of millions of people. This includes providing support for both staff and student wellbeing at the right time, in the right place. This charter gives colleges the chance to publicly state their commitment to the mental health agenda.”
