STAFF AND STUDENTS SUPPORT COMIC RELIEF CHARITY DRIVE

The Bury College community hosted a wide range of exciting activities to raise money for Comic Relief 2021.

This year, staff and students were invited a take part in a live cross-college quiz which was delivered through a Microsoft Teams link and beamed into classrooms, staffrooms and offices across the campus and raised vital awareness and funds for Comic Relief. Those attending college were also invited to wear red for Red Nose Day and make donations to fundraising buckets.

Staff and students were also asked to lace-up their trainers and put their best foot forward for the 7 Step Marathon Challenge for Comic Relief. The college community were challenged to complete the equivalent number of steps you would take in a marathon over 7 consecutive days. This would mean a total of 52,400 steps would need to be completed, averaging 7,486 per day. A huge well done to staff and students for taking on the challenge.

Individual course groups also did their bit to celebrate Comic Relief. Foundation Studies students took part in a Red Nose Sponsored Zumba and baked Red Nose Cakes. Students were delighted to develop their team work skills whilst also raising over £100 for the worthy cause.

Victoria Fell, Assistant Director of Personal Development, was delighted to see a strong charitable spirit across the college and staff and students doing their bit to support the charity. Victoria said, “We are very proud of our students and all their fundraising activities. Our students continue to amaze us with their commitment to charitable events and their compassion for supporting local and national charities.”
