This course will aim to provide you with occupational competency status and allow you to enhance your career prospects and self-employment opportunities.

You will also study in our new state-of-the-art Hair and Beauty Centre. The ground floor of this new building is home to a 12-bed Media Make-up and special effects studio, a commercial 24-station hair salon and a 24-station make-up studio.

The first floor comprises of a 12-bed Nail Clinic, two 12-bed beauty clinics and a 24-station hair salon. On the third floor, you will benefit from two 24-station hair and barbering salons and both IT and general teaching space to support the specialist facilities.

Research from the governing body of the National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) said that the hair and beauty industry generated £4.56bn in turnover in 2022-2023. Our range of courses will allow you to gain the skills needed to be a success in this industry.

Topics you will study:

•           Working in the beauty related industries

•           Follow health and safety practice in the salon

•           Client care and communication in beauty related industries

•           Provide facial skin care

•           Promote products and services to clients in a salon

•           Remove hair using waxing techniques

•           Provide manicure treatments

•           Provide pedicure treatments

•           Apply make-up

How you will be assessed:

•           Practical assessments

•           Online examinations

With this course, you are entitled to a free Skills Kit.

The kit will contain materials to help with your studies. This includes a Gel Nail Lamp and Gel polish kit.

This course also requires you to purchase a uninform and kit.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and Maths OR Pass at Level 1 Introduction to Hair & Beauty Sector and skills test and passes in all Functional Skill subjects.

Some courses are free for eligible learners, this is shown in the course details. You may be eligible for a free course if you are:

  • Unemployed and in receipt of an income-based benefit (for example JSA, ESA or Universal Credit)
  • Employed and earning less than the low-income threshold
  • Studying for your first full Level 2 qualification on an eligible legal entitlement course
  • Aged 19-23 and studying for your first full Level 3 qualification or on an eligible legal entitlement course
  • Your eligibility for a free course will be assessed and confirmed at enrolment.

ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN

Many of our adult learners pay for their Level 3 and above courses with an Advanced Learner Loan. If a loan is available this is indicated in the course details. It’s easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there are no credit checks. You only need to start paying back your Advanced Learner Loan when you are earning more than £25,000 per year.
