
Bury College recently hosted a Higher Education Fair for its current learners, welcoming representatives from over 20 different universities.
The course will prepare you with the skills and knowledge for effective salon management in the hair or beauty industry.
In the first year of the programme at Level 4 you will develop practical skills, knowledge and experience of current and emerging industry developments and trends. You will also prepare for study at Level 5 through the development of the knowledge and skills to be able to effectively manage a salon. You will develop your academic and study skills including undertaking research, academic writing and reflective practice. You will also develop an insight into the hairdressing and beauty industry through the undertaking of research.
In the second year of the programme at Level 5 you will prepare for employment or further study through the development of transferable knowledge and skills including management and entrepreneurship. You will develop leadership and management skills in order to be able to effectively manage a salon. You will also develop your skills in business, leadership and management and research skills to enhance employability and support career advancement and undertake a period of work experience.

This course will help you develop your career as a stylist/therapist or manager, or enable you to progress onto the next stage of your education.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.
The majority of students will be able to access a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England to pay their HE Course Fee.
Self-funding students may pay in 3 instalments in September (25%), January (25%) and April (50%).

Two dedicated apprentices working in a local nursery are proving that it’s never too late to upskill, thanks to the Early Years Level 5 Apprenticeship offered at Bury College.
Our art students have brought a splash of colour and creativity to Bury Hospice with a striking new mural celebrating the spirit of the local community. Painted by students from the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, the mural features vibrant hydrangeas and iconic Manchester Bees, symbolising unity, resilience, and the six towns of Bury.
