A Bury Council Social Media enthusiast has achieved a Bury College apprenticeship qualification which will support career progression.
Shannon Wood has undertaken a valuable role within the Council working as a Social Development Team Assistant. The former St Monica’s RC High School has a range of varied duties which include carrying out administrative and finance tasks as well as supporting team projects and managing the social media channels.
Shannon completed her Business Administration Level 3 apprenticeship alongside her job and balanced her studies with full-time employment. The apprenticeship supported Shannon in her role and helped to develop her knowledge in areas such as project management, understanding the business environment, social media marketing and coaching skills.
Shannon said, “I have learnt so much by completing an apprenticeship. I have been able to put my theory knowledge into practice within the workplace and I have further developed a range of transferable skills. I feel that the skills and knowledge I have developed throughout this apprenticeship has and will enable me to be successful in a range of different careers in the long term.”
The ambitious Council employee is now looking forward to progressing her career within public sector. Shannon enjoyed her apprenticeship programme so much that she would like to continue her professional development and achieve further qualifications as she thoroughly enjoys learning and pushing myself to new challenges.
