A former IT apprentice is enjoying a successful career at a national Telecoms engineering company.

Nathan Hall completed his IT Practitioner apprenticeship at Atrium Telecom Ltd in 2012 and secured a full-time position working as a Systems Engineer. Over the past few years, the 25 year old has built infrastructures and installed systems as well as being a point of contact for remote support and on-site assistance.

The Avaya Professional Services company, which is based in Heywood, has years of experience working in the developing industry and assisting their partners with support contracts and system installations.

Kevin Beswick, Director of Atrium Telecom Ltd, believes strongly in offering apprenticeship opportunities and upskilling young people. Kevin said, “Apprenticeship programmes are a great way to train new staff and it is very rewarding to see them develop and progress. I would 100% recommend apprenticeships to other businesses.”

The former Bury Church of England High School pupil said of his apprenticeship experience, “It was great that I could learn and earn at the same time. I really wanted to learn on the job rather than in the classroom.”

Atrium Telecom Ltd are so passionate about investing in work-based mentoring that they offer Bury College students the chance to complete placements. During these placements, students are also told about apprenticeship opportunities.
