
Bury College Business Academy raise over £1,000 for Bury Hospice
Throughout the day, there were fun activities including a basketball challenge, penalty shootout competition and escape rooms.
The Bury College Community Learning team organised a fundraising event to raise money and awareness for two charities.
The Community Learning team, along with fundraisers from Women of Worth, held a fundraising afternoon named Giving Tuesday which was hosted at Bury College Enterprise Centre. The team sold homemade cakes, chutneys and jams as well as handmade gifts and a raffle.
Many students and staff came along to buy the produce and gifts for family and £70.00 was raised and donated to EducAid, a charity which runs an educational network comprising of free schools, teach training and tertiary programmes in Sierra Leone.
Erin Northey, CEO EducAid, said “Thank you for yours and the entire Bury College and Community Learning team for the wonderful efforts on ‘Giving Tuesday’, you have done so much for EducAid. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all, we wanted to reach out to say how much your support means to us all at EducAid.”
Four Bury College students won the raffle prizes and the ladies from Women of Worth made a profit of £125 towards their groups’ funds to help run their centre and activities.
