Bury College’s state-of-the-art equipment helped to support an initiative to produce 5,000 pieces of PPE for frontline workers.
During these unprecedented times, the Bury College Engineering department loaned Beamont Collegiate Academy based in Warrington, four 3D printers to help them produce masks which were then supplied to the NHS and health care sectors.
These high-quality 3D printing machines have been designed to produce industry standard equipment. Bury College Engineering students benefit greatly from using this machinery which helps to prepare them for progression directly into industry where they are then familiar with using the latest technology.
Paul Bullock, Fab Lab Manager at Beamont Collegiate Academy said, “Our sincerest gratitude for graciously loaning us your hardware and in doing so playing a part in the effort to get PPE to the NHS and healthcare sectors when it was needed the most. A huge thank-you to all involved.”
Chris Mayoh, Bury College Head of Curriculum for Engineering said, “Bury College is pleased to have been able to make a difference and help to support the production of vital PPE during these extremely challenging times.”
