Students and staff at Bury College have donated hundreds of food items and products to a Bury charity which will help make a positive change to the lives of others.
During the month of December, the college community pledged their support to collect tinned food, packet soups, rice, pasta, cereals, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and cleaning materials for Porch Boxes. The Bury based charity provides crisis packs of food and toiletries to local agencies to distribute to local people in urgent need.
Victoria Fell, Assistant Director of Personal Development at Bury College said, “Porch boxes is a fantastic, local charity. In a very tough year, our staff and students are more aware than ever of the role we have in serving our community. We couldn't be more proud of them and their efforts."
Money was also raised during Elf Day which raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Staff and students from the Health and Social Care team enjoyed celebrating the day and raising nearly £150.00 for the worthwhile charity.
