Bury College were proud to show their support at a tree planting ceremony which remembers lives that have been lost to terrorism.

Collabor8 Bury and Greater Manchester Police (GMP), together with Bury Council, hosted the ceremony at Whitehead Gardens based in Bury Town Centre. The occasion brought people from across Bury together to pay their respects and remember all the innocent victims who have lost their lives in terrorist attacks around the world.

Joanne McKenzie, Bury College Curriculum Director of Health, Care, Foundation and Learner Support, attended the ceremony and represented Bury College. Joanne said, “The tree planting ceremony was a very moving event. Our thoughts will always be with the families, loved ones and all those injured and affected by acts of terrorism.”

Superintendent Sue Downey of GMP's Bury district said: “This tree, which was kindly donated by Bury Council, will stand in the memorial garden to serve as a token of remembrance. We hope members of the community and further afield will leave their messages of hope for all those that have been injured and affected by these incidents across the world.”
