Throughout the day, there were fun activities including a basketball challenge, penalty shootout competition and escape rooms.
Our Hair and Media Make-up students recently received a masterclass in drag queen make-up art from Laali Botkoveli. The session saw the students receive industry tips and tricks as they all look ahead to potential careers in the industry.
Aside from the general advice, there was also a practical demonstration, where students had the opportunity to see Laali in full flow. You can see some of the pictures from that at the bottom of the page.
One of the students in attendance was Grace Linkhorn. The former Woodhey High School pupil said: “I loved the Drag Masterclass because she explained what she did in detail so we could get an idea for our own looks. She explained what she was doing and explained when she was changing techniques or products so we could write notes for our look books. This also helped us to write a step-by-step guide that we can then follow for our mock assessment. She gave a great insight into the industry and what products and techniques will put you above other artists.
“The session was also related to the entire industry, meaning if you don't want to do drag make-up in the future, she still helped prepare you for other styles such as bridal. Overall, it was such a helpful and very informative masterclass!”
Stefanie Wright, Lecturer in Media Makeup, said: “The students thoroughly enjoyed it and will be putting these new skills into practice next week. A huge thank you to Laali for visiting and delivering such an interesting session.”
