The Level 3 Health and Social Care student is thriving in her final year of the course and is excited about progressing to university.
Sofiia's journey with us started in 2021 when she enrolled on Health and Social Care Level 2, and quickly impressed her tutors. The following year, she progressed to Level 3 and as she approaches the end of her course, she is hoping to progress onto university.
Last year, she also undertook a work experience placement in a Ukrainian High School, allowing her to further enhance the skills she has developed in college.
Sofiia said: “Since starting here, I have increased my knowledge and developed skills to help prepare me for employment. In terms of my next steps, I want to study Criminology at university and ultimately have a career in this area."
Sofiia also spoke about her wider experiences of the college: “All of the staff and fellow students have been so nice. I have made so many friends.”
Tasneem Shafiq, Health & Social Care Lecturer at Bury College, said: “I am so proud of Sofiia. She has worked very hard to get to this stage. It’s amazing how she has been able to throw herself into the college community, having moved from a completely different country and culture. I can’t wait to see the direction that her career goes in once she finishes with us.”
