
Bury College recently hosted a Higher Education Fair for its current learners, welcoming representatives from over 20 different universities.
As part of Love our Colleges Week 2024, we have been catching up with a range of students about what they love about Bury College and their plans for the future.
Eva Gregg is a Level 3 Childcare student who spoke about what her plans are for the future and how the tutors have helped her reach this stage. The former Tottington High School pupil said: “The support I’ve had from my tutors has allowed me to get an offer for University and start looking towards the future.”
Benjamin Barker has recently completed his Supported Internship course and has now found permanent employment in a Data Admin role for Exchange Utilities after thriving on his internship. The former Woodhey High School pupil said: “I want to thank all my tutors who have always been really supportive of me and helping me to progress.”
Olivia Garrity is a first year Engineering student. The former St Gabriel’s RC High School pupil said she loves how the course has helped develop her passion for engineering. Olivia also has big ambitions for the future, saying: “Once I’ve finished at Bury College, I want to go to university before hopefully progressing onto a job working with environment or renewable energy.”
Christopher Gill, a former St Anne’s Academy pupil, is currently in his first year of studying Art with us. Christopher spoke about his plans for the future and thanked his current tutors. He said: “The encouragement from my tutors has really helped me to develop my skills. Hopefully, in the future, I will be working in a creative role where I can put this knowledge into practice.”

T Level student Cameron Taylor turned his placement at Bury BID into a paid summer role, gaining hands-on experience in events and marketing.
Two dedicated apprentices working in a local nursery are proving that it’s never too late to upskill, thanks to the Early Years Level 5 Apprenticeship offered at Bury College.
Our art students have brought a splash of colour and creativity to Bury Hospice with a striking new mural celebrating the spirit of the local community. Painted by students from the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, the mural features vibrant hydrangeas and iconic Manchester Bees, symbolising unity, resilience, and the six towns of Bury. We recently lifted the lid on working in social care with an event for our Health and Social Care students. Students heard from employers in the industry about the different opportunities available and the skills that people in the industry are looking for.
