The Bury College community has come together over recent weeks to raise money and awareness of important national events.
Staff and students donned their Pudsey ears and onesies to celebrate Children in Need and collected money in buckets which will be donated to help support children across the country. The college raised over £200 in total. Students were also invited to take part in a fun virtual quiz which included a range of film, music and sport questions.
Students were also proud to pay their respects for this year’s Remembrance Day. Student governors along with staff visited the cenotaph in Bury town centre where they laid a poppy wreath on behalf of Bury College.
Student Governor and Computing student Jamie Brown said, “I really enjoy representing the college in my student governor role by laying the wreath. Bury College is a fundamental pillar of the community. We felt that supporting the community as well as our country was very important.”
Victoria Fell, Assistant Director of Personal Development said, “As part of the Bury College Positive Futures programme, students serve their local communities through Social Action and Good Citizenship. We actively promote the raising of awareness and funds for causes of local, national and global significance in ways which benefit students, staff and the wider community. All of this activity is supported academically by our high-quality Group Tutorial curriculum.”
