We are delighted to offer an exciting range of curriculum-based masterclasses, delivered after school on our campus.

Available to pupils in Years 10 and 11, these clubs will give you the opportunity to explore your career options by trying out the curriculum subject of your choice. You will also gain valuable experience, learn new skills, and make new friends!

All clubs are held on a Tuesday, 5-6.30pm, and run for 5 consecutive weeks. Curriculum clubs are delivered in our specialist vocational facilities by qualified and experienced Bury College staff.

The cost for each 5-week club is £30.00 per person and must be paid in full in advance of the start date.

Childcare Academy

The Childcare Team are excited to offer afterschool masterclasses for anyone interested in working with children in early years and education.

The sessions will provide fun and engaging opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in understanding how you can support children’s learning and development as well as meeting their care needs. From making Play-Doh and story props, experiencing our outdoor classroom and forest school to caring for babies, each session will provide a great taster for anyone thinking about their next steps in a career in childcare.

Experience Engineering

At this club, you will find out what it is like to work in industry as an Engineer.

Specifically, you will learn about Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Engineering Maths and Mechanical Principles.

Building your knowledge and technical ability in these areas will give you a detailed insight into life working as a professional Engineer and will allow you to start developing your own hands-on experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on any of our Engineering courses, and an excellent way to experience life as an Engineer.

Introduction to Construction: Multi-trades

Lay the foundations for a career in Construction with this exciting, hands-on course. Over five weeks, you will develop skills in the following trades:

Carpentry and Joinery
Bricklaying
Plumbing

If you are considering a career in the construction industry but unsure which area you would like to specialise in, then this is a great opportunity to try your hand across different trades.

Introduction to Building Services: Plumbing & Electrical

These sessions will allow you to learn and develop your skills in basic electrical lighting circuits and some basic plumbing of taps using plastic and copper pipe.

This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who is looking to study Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Engineering and maybe isn’t sure which one they would prefer." 

Come and join our sessions where you will spend two weeks learning about electrical and the next three weeks studying plumbing.

Travel Crew Club

In our Travel Crew Club, you will develop key knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the Travel and Tourism industry.

You will learn about the industry as a whole, and take part in activities which highlight and develop the qualities you will need as a professional. You will learn how to provide excellent customer service and discover what it takes to be successful in the Travel industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on our Travel and Tourism courses and a great taster for anyone who wishes to develop their skills and experience of working in a customer focussed industry.

Style School

Bury College is proud to offer an exciting after-school club for pupils with a keen interest in pursuing a career within the Hairdressing, Barbering or Beauty industry.

These sessions will allow you to learn and develop your skills in styling male and female hair, temporary hair colouring, nail art and basic media make-up techniques.

In the final week there will be an opportunity to produce a style, based on a theme and to showcase the new skills you have learnt.

This is a brilliant opportunity for pupils to gain experience of what it is like working in a professional salon environment in our brand-new state of the art facilities.

Uniformed Cadets

As a Cadet you will develop the key knowledge and skills needed to succeed within the Uniformed Public Services.

You will learn about the types of roles available within the Police, Fire Service and Armed Forces and discover key elements that are of utmost importance when working as a professional within these services, such as organisational skills and personal presentation. You will also learn about fitness, navigation and leadership through participation in a series of practical tasks.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on our Uniformed Public Services courses and an excellent way to experience life within these exciting careers.

Performing Arts Academy

In our Performing Arts Academy, you will explore a range of skills and techniques across Singing, Dancing and Acting, this will enable you to develop your skills, gain a real insight into life as a professional Performer and make new friends.

You will focus on areas such as: Jazz Dance in Musical Theatre, Contemporary Dance, and Singing in Musical Theatre. You will also take part in a Voice and Text Workshop and build essential skills in an Improvisation Workshop.

This is a great taster for those wishing to study on our Performing Arts courses and is also a brilliant way to build your skills and knowledge, and gain experience performing alongside new people, which can be useful in preparing for auditions.

Junior Chef Club

Welcome to Junior Chef Club! Do you aspire to be the next top Chef? 

Come and join us in our brand new facilities on a five-week course that will run one evening a week. 

The course will give you a flavour of working in a professional kitchen and improve your skills in baking and cooking. You will also gain valuable knowledge about courses and career pathways in this fast-paced, exciting industry.
