After-school masterclasses for Year 10 and 11 pupils

Bury College is delighted to offer an exciting range of curriculum-based masterclasses, delivered after school on the Bury College campus.

Available to pupils in Years 10 and 11, these clubs will give you the opportunity to explore your career options by trying out the curriculum subject of your choice. You will also gain valuable experience, learn new skills, and make new friends!

All clubs are held on a Wednesday, 5pm-7pm, and run for 5 consecutive weeks.  Curriculum clubs are delivered in our specialist vocational facilities by qualified and experienced Bury College staff.

The cost for each 5-week club is £30.00 per person and must be paid in full in advance of the start date.

First Response Cadets

Welcome to our First Response Cadets club! As a First Response Cadet you will develop the key knowledge and skills needed to succeed within the Uniformed Public Services.

You will learn about the types of roles available within these industries and discover key elements that are of utmost importance when working as a professional within these services, such as organisational skills and personal presentation. You will also learn about fitness, navigation and leadership.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on our Uniformed Public Services courses and an excellent way to experience life within these exciting careers.

Junior Chef Club

Welcome to Junior Chef Club! Do you aspire to be the next top Chef? 

Over a five-week course that runs one evening a week, the team at Bury College Catering department can help make that dream one step closer!

The course will give you a flavour of working in a professional kitchen and improve your skills in baking and cooking. You will gain valuable knowledge about courses and career pathways in this fast-paced, exciting industry.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on our Catering courses and an excellent way to discover the realities of working in a professional kitchen.

Experience Engineering

Welcome to Experience Engineering. At this club you will find out what it is like to work in industry as an Engineer.

Specifically, you will learn about Mechanical Engineering; focussing on 3D Printing, and then move on to Electrical & Electronic Engineering: focussing on Breadboard, Logic Probes, Oscilloscopes, Soldering and Multisim (Design).

Building your knowledge and technical ability in these areas will give you a detailed insight into life working as a professional Engineer and will allow you to start developing your own hands-on experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on any of our Engineering courses, and an excellent way to experience life as an Engineer.

Style School – Make-up, Beauty & Hair

Welcome to Style School – Hairdressing!

Bury College is proud to offer an exciting after-school club for pupils with a ‘flair for hair’ and for those interested in pursuing a career within the industry.

These sessions will allow you to learn and develop your skills in styling hair and temporary hair colouring. In the final week there will be an opportunity to produce a style based on a theme and to showcase the new skills you have learnt.

This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who is looking to study on our Hairdressing courses and an excellent way to experience what it is like working in a professional salon environment.

Over five weeks you will develop skills and attain knowledge towards Carpentry and Joinery to give you the opportunity to decide if you would like to choose Carpentry as your vocation for life. You will also learn about health and safety in a workshop atmosphere to ensure you are working safely.

This is an excellent opportunity to experience a taster towards working in the construction industry and is suitable for all interested in this pathway.
