Gain the skills and qualifications needed to unlock your employment opportunities within these competitive industries. If you are just starting, this course has been designed to support your progression into a range of professions.
You will learn how the financial and accounting departments across different organisations operate and also be equipped with basic numerical skills that are needed in the workplace and in life.
Gain the skills needed to unlock your employment opportunities within the accounting and financing industry. Whether you are just starting out or wanting to climb the promotional ladder, our courses can help springboard you into a range of professions.
The topics include:
- Understand the role of the bookkeeper
- Understand financial transactions
- Process customer and supplier transactions
- Process receipts and payments
- Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software to complete bookkeeping tasks.
Having studied this qualification, you will be able to progress to a variety of courses:
- Level 1 Award in Business Skills
- Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounts
- Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, you will need to pass an initial assessment to determine your English and numeracy skills.
Some courses are free for eligible learners, this is shown in the course details. You may be eligible for a free course if you are:
- Unemployed and in receipt of an income-based benefit (for example JSA, ESA or Universal Credit)
- Employed and earning less than the low-income threshold
- Studying for your first full Level 2 qualification on an eligible legal entitlement course
- Aged 19-23 and studying for your first full Level 3 qualification or on an eligible legal entitlement course
- Your eligibility for a free course will be assessed and confirmed at enrolment.

ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN
Many of our adult learners pay for their Level 3 and above courses with an Advanced Learner Loan. If a loan is available this is indicated in the course details. It’s easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there are no credit checks. You only need to start paying back your Advanced Learner Loan when you are earning more than £25,000 per year.
