The Level 2 Certificate in Psychology is designed to provide you with an effective experience in developing study skills and the initial stages of learning about the discipline in terms of the key concepts, theories and perspectives. You will also begin to understand the nature-nurture debate that is significant in Psychology. 

Upon completion, you may progress onto the Level 3 Access course as this provides you with an in-depth understanding of the key contributors in Psychology.

There will be two modules will be studied on this course.


Module 1 provides an introduction to key psychological concepts focusing on the Definition and illustration of psychological concepts.

Module 2 focuses on the Application of Psychological Concepts, this module details an understanding of how different psychologists have applied and used psychological concepts in theories and studies. You will understand the strengths and limitations of theories and studies relating to psychological concepts.

The Psychological Concepts that are studied are:

Developmental psychology - Focusing on attachment.

Social psychology - Focusing on attribution, conformity and obedience.

Individual differences - Focusing on intelligence, nature nurture and aggression.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, you will need to pass an initial assessment to determine your English skills.

Some courses are free for eligible learners, this is shown in the course details. You may be eligible for a free course if you are:

  • Unemployed and in receipt of an income-based benefit (for example JSA, ESA or Universal Credit)
  • Employed and earning less than the low-income threshold
  • Studying for your first full Level 2 qualification on an eligible legal entitlement course
  • Aged 19-23 and studying for your first full Level 3 qualification or on an eligible legal entitlement course
  • Your eligibility for a free course will be assessed and confirmed at enrolment.

ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN

Many of our adult learners pay for their Level 3 and above courses with an Advanced Learner Loan. If a loan is available this is indicated in the course details. It’s easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there are no credit checks. You only need to start paying back your Advanced Learner Loan when you are earning more than £25,000 per year.
