Our professional Hairdressing courses provide you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to progress through the levels and into industry as a Junior Stylist.

An enthusiasm for hairdressing is essential, in addition to personal qualities of motivation, good communication and dexterity skills. The skills you will develop include carrying out services such as shampooing, conditioning, styling, dressing and setting hair, cutting, perming and colouring.

 There will be lots of opportunities for trips, visits, guest speakers, mentoring and work experience. This is an exciting programme, designed to help you get ready for your next steps.

Topics you will cover on this course include:

  • Style and Finish African Type Hair
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Consultation
  • Promoting products and services
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Creating an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
  • cutting
  • Perming
  • Heath and Safety
  • Colour and lighten hair

You have the unique opportunity to progress onto a bespoke Salon Management degree at Bury College University Centre and/or progress into careers including:

  • Hairdresser
  • Salon Owner
  • Stylist
  • Freelance Hairdresser
  • Cruise Liner Stylist
  • Salon Manager
  • Manufacturer Technician

There may be additional costs for uniform and kit.

For Level 2 Women's Hairdressing: 4 GCSEs at grade 9-3 (including Maths and English Language) OR GCSE Grade 9-3 in Maths & English Language and a Pass on the Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Course and successful completion of the Skill Test.
