The first year of the University of Salford Adult Nursing degree is being taught at Bury College, and so we have been catching up with our former students who are progressing onto the next stage of their careers.

Sienna Heyes recently completed her T Level in Health, and the former Harper Green pupil spoke about this and her aspirations for the future: “The course helped develop my clinical skills and improved my confidence, so I now feel more prepared. I want to be a Nurse because I love helping people and learning new things.”

Merhawi Gaim has taken a very different route to achieve a place on this course but like Sienna, he has a passion for helping people. Merhawi recently passed his Access to Higher Education: Nursing Pathway and has progressed through the different levels 2019. He is now excited for his next steps and future career: “Bury College has helped me believe that achieving my dream is possible.”

Andrea Plimmer, Assistant Director for Health & Social Care at Bury College, said: “We are very excited to welcome the 2nd cohort of Adult Nursing degree students in collaboration with Salford University.  This is the first year that our Adult Nursing T level students have joined the programme after completing their T level qualification this summer.

“The work experience that the T level programme offers has enhanced the degree options open to them and given them a clear insight into the profession and which Nursing degree they want to study. It is great to see Bury college students progressing onto this programme with Salford and continuing their studies locally.”
