Bury College officially launches Hair and Beauty Centre with Plaque Unveiling event
The plaque was unveiled by Chris Trees, Chair of Governors at Bury College.
Our
Bricklaying courses are designed to develop your essential bricklaying skills
and knowledge, enabling you to work in the industry as a trainee bricklayer. Led
by industry professionals, these courses offer opportunities to further develop
hands-on practical skills covering all aspects of bricklaying, setting out,
estimating, building design, and related areas.
The topics studied on this course are:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries (unless completed at Level 1)
- Understanding information, quantities and communicating with others
- Understanding construction technology
- Set out masonry structures
- Construct masonry cladding
- Construct solid walling incorporating isolated and attached piers
- Construct cavity walling and forming masonry structures
This
programme is assessed through end of year synoptic assessments and theory based
exams. Students are provided with a scenario, for which they need to plan,
complete, and evaluate a range of practical tasks.
Future career opportunities may include:
- Bricklayer
- Sub-Contractor
- Construction Operative
- Private Business Owner
You
are required to purchase PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that you must wear
in all practical sessions; this will include a hi-visibility vest, a pair of
gloves and safety goggles, all available to purchase from college at enrolment.
In addition, you will also need to purchase a pair of steel toe capped
boots.

For Level 2 Bricklaying: Level 1 bricklaying plus 3 GCSEs at grade 9-3 (including Maths and English Language)
