Our Electrical Installation courses have been designed to develop your skills and knowledge, enabling you to work in the industry as a trainee Electrician. These courses combine theoretical and practical competencies, which include the installation of electrical circuits, equipment, cables and accessories and the use of hand and power tools. You will be required to complete a range of practical projects, work experience and develop your skills and knowledge through studying a range of subjects.

The topics studied on this course are:

  • Planning and overseeing electrical work activities
  • Principles of electrical science
  • Electrical installations fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Electrical installations inspection testing and commissioning
  • Electrical systems design
  • Requirements for electrical installations

This programme includes a 45-day (315 hour) industry placement to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to progress into employment within the sector

Theory exam, synoptic assignment, practical assessments and employer
engagement.

Career opportunities may include:

  • Electrician
  • Electrical Engineer
  • Technician

You are required to purchase PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that you must wear in all practical sessions; this will include a hi-visibility vest, a pair of gloves and safety goggles, all available to purchase from college at enrolment. In addition, you will also need to purchase a pair of steel toe capped boots.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.

For Level 3 Electrical Installation: GCSE 9-4 in Maths & English Language and a Pass on the Level 2 Electrical Installation Course.
