Our specialist Engineering qualifications are for those who wish to pursue a career in the diverse world of Engineering. These courses are designed to provide you with a good knowledge and understanding of Engineering whilst developing the skills required to prepare you for employment or progression into further study.

You will be required to complete a range of practical projects, work experience and develop your skills and knowledge through studying a range of subjects.

The topics studied on this course are:

  • Engineering environment awareness
  • Engineering techniques
  • Engineering mathematics and science principles
  • Applied mathematics in engineering
  • Additive manufacturing (3D printing)
  • Fitting and assembly techniques/ producing components from sheet metal

This programme includes a 5-day work placement to support progression to a T Level in Engineering and Manufacturing.

Personal Protective Equipment will need to be purchased at enrolment at a cost of £27 and you will also need to purchase a pair of steel toe-capped safety boots.  Lockers are available to hire for the year by paying a refundable deposit of £10 at enrolment.  There will also be study visits that you are required to contribute to.

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.

For Level 2 Engineering Technologies: 4 GCSEs at grade 9-3 (including Maths, English Language and Science) OR GCSE 9-3 in Maths, English Language & Science and grade MM on the Level 1 Engineering Course.
