SCHOOL OF PERFORMANCE WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL PERFORMING ARTS DUO
Two Bury College School of Performance graduates re-visited the college to share their tips on how to secure career success.
Daniel Fuins and Philip Anderson completed their Bury College studies in Performing Arts and both students progressed onto Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama (MADD), a leading musical theatre college located in Nottingham. The duo have since gone on to enjoy roles within the highly competitive performing arts industry.
24-year-old Daniel has recently completed a seven-month stint working in Cape Verde performing in evening shows at popular hotels covering swing, pop, modern and Motown music. Upon completion of his MADD studies, the former Castlebrook High School pupil secured a theatre agent and toured with pantos as well as performed abroad in Greece.
Daniel said, “I’ve returned to Bury College today to help students to prepare their audition pieces. I loved my time at Bury College and had a great relationship with my tutors.”
Also enjoying international on-stage success is former Matthew Moss School pupil Philip who has danced on the RMS Queen Mary 2 world cruise ship. The 24 year old also performed on the Britannia Caribbean Cruise ship for nine months showcasing his ballroom, tap, jazz, jive and Irish routines.
Philip added, “I chose to return to the college to deliver workshops because of the units here. I didn’t start dancing until the age of 17 and they recognised that I had a skill for it and pushed me to progress.”
The former students delivered a hands-on workshop which covered dancing and acting techniques to current Level 3 learners. Aaron Storey, a former Tottington High School pupil, said of the session, “The workshop has been really good. We received some great advice about the industry and to how prepare ourselves for our future careers.”
