Bury College Art students bring colour to Rose Court Care Home
Our second-year Textiles and Fine Art pathway students recently visited Rose Court Care Home to run a series of arts and crafts workshops.

This is a relatively new course, so it is a great chance for our students to have input into how the course develops. Emily is a Media Make-up and Hair specialist, with over 5 years teaching experience and over 12 years industry experience in TV, editorial and bridal make-up. Her qualifications include Level 2 and 3 Hair, Level 2 and 3 Make-up, and a Foundation Diploma in Media Make-up for Film and TV.

This course will prepare you with the skills and knowledge necessary to build a career in Make-up Artistry within the creative industries, such as film, television and theatre. At Level 4, you will develop a range of practical skills, knowledge and experience of current and emerging make-up industry developments and trends. You will gain an understanding of the roles and requirements of a hair and make-up artist in a range of projects and live productions. Throughout your time on the course you will practice a variety of hair, make-up and character styles on your peers, models and actors. You will also develop a portfolio to showcase your professional skills.

You will be assessed via a range of methods, including practical assessments, and portfolios.
This course will allow you to progress onto a HND in Performing Arts - Media Make-up in the Creative Industries, a related course, or develop your career as a media makeup artist.
Past Media Make-up student Ilham Boudrez assisted on a shoot with well-known photographer Terry Donnelly in the first year of her course, after being offered the opportunity by hair and make-up artist Jenna Hacking, one of the industry specialists who delivers the course. Jenna was so impressed with the skills and dedication Ilham demonstrated in her studies that she invited Ilham to be her assistant on the shoot. Ilham said:
“The shoot was an opportunity to learn new skills. I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. I loved taking part and working with Jenna.”
