Bury College Art students bring colour to Rose Court Care Home
Our second-year Textiles and Fine Art pathway students recently visited Rose Court Care Home to run a series of arts and crafts workshops.
English Language is an introduction to the study of linguistics. On this course, you will study a mixture of topics that explore language development and use, the diversity of the language in society and how it changes over time.
The topics studied on this course are:
- Stylistic analysis of non-fiction texts
- Child language development
- Language diversity and change
- Regional varieties
- Language and social groups
- Language and gender
- Language and ethnicity
- Occupational language
- Language change
Assessment
is 80% exam and 20% coursework.
A Level English can lead to a variety of careers including:
- Journalism
- Speech Therapy
- Social Work
- Law
- Education
- Marketing
Positive Futures is a set of essential qualities, embedded throughout your study programme, that we seek to develop in all students:

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.
For A-level programmes: 6 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (to include 3 GCSEs at grade 9-4 and 3 GCSEs at grade 9-5). Require grade 9-4 in English Language and Maths.
